Sport & Remedial Massage

  • Sport & Remedial Massage is the management, rehabilitation, articulation and manipulation of the body's soft tissues including muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia to aid the prevention, recognition and treatment of injuries. Due to the nature of this deep tissue manipulation it can sometimes be an uncomfortable treatment but your body will respond as muscle stiffness and tension reduces. Typically the aim is to relax the muscles and other soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them and decrease pain.

    Reported benefits include:

    • Improves circulation and lymphatic flow

    • Aids elimination of toxins and waste products within soft tissues

    • Improves movement/flexibility and function

    • Normalises muscle length, tone or imbalances

    • Helps manage stress and assists with pain relief

    • Event preparation, injury prevention & scar tissue reduction

Myofascial Cupping

  • Myofascial Cupping uses a cup to create a vacuum which draws the soft tissue perpendicular to the skin thus providing a tensile force to the soft tissue system.

The cup can be left in one place on the body for a prolonged period or moved along the tissue. Cupping lifts the tissue up which allows greater blood flow and oxygen to come into the area.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation

  • IASTM involves using a range of tools to enable a Therapist to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft-tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons and treat individuals diagnosed and/or fascia) dysfunction.

IASTM is not aggressive and does not cause excessive tissue damage and bruising as is the common misconception, it does not replace a Therapists hands - it compliments them by adding another layer of soft tissue assessment and treatment.

IASTM can be used to help alleviate the following symptoms; Limited motion, Pain during motion, Motor control issues (muscle activation / coordination), muscle recruitment issues.

Dry Needling

  • Dry needling is a technique similar to acupuncture that is used for muscle pain. One of the primary reasons for treatment of trigger points and applying dry needling is to release trigger points (areas of hypersensitivity within a muscle).

Medical Acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaption of traditional Chinese acupuncture principles of evidence based medicine. It acts mainly by stimulating the nervous system and is used to treat musculoskeletal pain.

Swedish Body Massage

  • The Swedish Massage is an excellent way to relax the entire body. It is beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins and easing tension and stress. Research has also shown that volunteers who had regular Swedish Massages had increased lymphocytes (white blood cells) that are part of the immune system and a boost in immune cells.

Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones.

Voodoo Flossing

  • Flossing is a re-useable mobility tool that can help you move better and with less pain.

It uses the science of compression and fascial shearing to help unglue sticky and stiff muscles and joints so they move better.

Kinesiology Tape

  • ROCKTAPE is a premium brand of kinesiology tape which lifts the skin away from the muscle and promotes positive changes in the body's fluid, mechanical and neurological systems.

Commonly people wearing ROCKTAPE report less pain, swelling and tightness, of the area and later onset of fatigue.

ROCKTAPE is commonly used by athletes and health professionals to help with a wide variety of musculo-skeletal and sports injuries and to achieve the following:

    • Reduce swelling, pain, tightness and stiffness

    • Delay onset of muscle fatigue and cramp

Trigger Point Therapy

  • A trigger point is a tight area within a muscle that causes pain in other parts of the body. The pain can feel sharp and stabbing or dull and achy.

Trigger Point Therapy is designed to alleviate the source of the pain with isolated pressure and release. This is often integrated into a Sport & Remedial Massage.

Myofascial Release Therapy

  • Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction (impaired or altered function of related components of the bodies systems) and accompanying pain and restriction of motion.

Fascia is a 3D continuous web that extends without interruption from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. Fascia surrounds, infuses and protects every other tissue, tendon, muscle, bone, ligament and organ of the body.

In healthy conditions the facial system is relaxed and wavy in configuration. Following all physical and emotional traumas and through poor posture fascia scars and hardens and this causes internal structures to be pulled out of alignment causing abnormal pressure on nerves, blood, organs etc. MFR is mostly a very gentle and relaxing technique which can result in some incredible changes.
